the duty thing is a bummer
are the costs quoted shipping by sea?
Hi Max,
Apologies - have been off-air.
If you mean the price I listed re: Fedex shipping of the API unit then no, that was air. I think it took about 5 - 6 days from New York to Brisbane.
I need to look into this further, but the U.S./Aus Free Trade Agreement dictates that no Customs Duty is payable if the goods are manufactured in the U.S. That's not the case, so even though the parcels will be shipped from The States, Duty will still apply if the product + ship value in $AU is over $1000. Oi fink.

in typical american business fashion... before we've got a company or products, we've got a logo and swag!!
well, i suppose marketing makes the world go around.
Tying in neatly to two different recent threads, we should probably soon think about producing a commercial for these products featuring (the obvious choice), a reworked version of AC/DCs "TNT"
Cause we're T - N - C!
We're dynamite!
We're T - N - C!
Doncha think?
Okay, I'll run now...There are no honorable bargains involving exchange of qualitative merchandise like souls for quantitative merchandise like time and money.
So piss off Satan, and don't take me for dumber than I look.

I think I'm a total moron.....
Somebody smack me if I'm an idiot, but originally I was going get a pair of the 73's because I wanted a pair of DIs for tracking keyboards.
But I JUST NOW REALIZED that all of the pres have line level inputs that hit the input transformers. As well, the 81 is class A like the 73 (unlike the 1081 which is A/B). So I'm thinking I might as well just get the 81 and track my keyboards through the line-in.
Is there something I'm overlooking here? Am I an idiot? I'm just so used to using DIs with keyboards that this never occured to me that I could go line in with these pres.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong or if they think things will sound more 'magical' (whatever that means) using the direct-in on the 73 vs. the line-in of any of the pres for a typical keyboard.Chris Carter
