"...then your kid comes running in from next door with a 3 and half inch gash in his head from a baseball bat--"
in this scenario, you can bet that the drug involved is alcohol (or speed)
just pray that you're not a jehovah's witness if the kid needs a transfusion...

" I just do not see a big difference between being staggering drunk and having a toke"

one is associated with increased mortality and the other one isn't...

likewise, in that situation, if the parent is going to be under the influence, marijuana is much preferable to alcohol
THC tends to induce false fear rather than false courage that booze does
it's better to dial 911 and be told not to worry, than try to fix it with a powerdrill and a roll of gaffa...

*spoken at an overcaffinated pace from a cue-card* It's not so simple, Buddy. When a member of our own fraternity of the shield strays off the beaten path of normalcy and takes a bad-trip on Marhijuana Brownies... and calls 911 for help...well it's pretty clear that nobody is immune to the wrath of this evil scourge:

these are my favourite lines:
"i think we're dead... i really do.."
"i just want to make sure that this isn't some hallucination i'm having"
"it's ok... my mother-in-law just arrived"

that statement is idiotic (to me)
since the Kingdom is within.
if we are one with Spirit...(God)
and I AM
then going to the secret place of the Most High dwells within in the silence of our meditation is "within" always access-able
so within so without.
don't mean to get too much God into this thread but what you said did not ring True for me.
when i have a challenge i need all the help i can get which includes earthly doctors and the Master Physician
the point i was making is
imaging having to get my shoes on jam in the car rush to the hospital and face a doctor with a stoned demure.
dilated pupils, poor reaction, and adrenalin are a bad combo
not to mention sudden and unwanted guilt and shame

The point i wanted to make, although i was a bit vague, was the fact that: if you have parenting duties, don't smoke pot, or drink booze or anything else.
So, the war again ignorance and stupidity is aimed at those who would think the above is a good or OK idea.
The second i wished to make, once again loosely, is that: as within so without = as without so within.
"External spirits" have played a major part in the development of cultures and societies. Some positive, some negative.
Apologies again for my being vague.
