I know hearing is believing. And there are many in Fletcher's forum convinced there is real sonic benefit, but I would like to get a technical perspective if someone will comment.

And BTW, what's the radiation hazard?

Torture “is basically subject to perception,” CIA counterterrorism lawyer Jonathan Fredman told a group of military and intelligence officials gathered at the U.S.-run detention camp in Cuba on Oct. 2, 2002, according to minutes of the meeting. “If the detainee dies, you’re doing it wrong.”

Thanks Erik. A good point.
When I was reading the information on Antelope's site, it reminded me a lot of "hi-fi speak". And I'm sure the device's look and price are geared toward hi-fi.
Here is a quote from the site. It instantly put me off:
"Isochrone 10M not only renders superb sound quality, but leaves a strong impression on your clients. An atomic clock in your gear rack speaks louder about your studio, your professionalism, and your commitment to quality than anything else. And, of course, with an early adoption of the atomic technology you will have a dramatic competitive advantage over conventional studios."
Wow. I can impress the hell out of my clients with an atomic clock. I will then have a dramatic advantage over my competition who didn't shoot 8 grand on an atomic clock.
I don't know much but I do know I should never be allowed near any atomic device.
Still, I'd love to read more from other posters.

Barry, the only time I use external clocking is in an editing set-up where a multiple amount of units are connected together to perform in editing, mixing, loading realtime audio etc, to avoid changing master and slave mode.
When recording the AD used should be the masterclock to everything at all times, and when your converter sounds better with external clocking, do what Dan Lavry said, buy a better converter. If that atomic snake oil device costs as much as a Lavry Gold AD converter, I would say buy the Gold, use it as masterclock and never think about jitter anymore.

It's not entirely irrational to buy an external clock if it's cheaper than that. If you have a 24-channel PT rig, adding $2k worth of external clock (clearly not the Rubidium device) is bound to be cheaper than buying 24 channels of convertors that are as good as the old ones externally clocked.

Recording that many channels in one go is rare, but playback of large numbers of channels is common.
