I use a low oil alarm... a very loud fire alarm bell hooked up to the sensors (oil pressure/high bilge water/engine temp etc.) Then the captain can determine whether a shut-down is a good choice or not.

Yeah, tha footage truly shows how the wave came from the opposite direction, was completely steep/huge and just washed through without warning.

My wife saw that a few years ago with me on a Sunday and asked if that was what i had lived through before. It's times like that which make you want ot lie to your spouse but you can't.

Growing up fishing the cold and rough waters of New England, through the grand banks and on up to "perfect storm" Flemish cap territory gave me respect for the ocean and the ones who choose to work there. Living in the South is typically warmer, smoother and less choppy but afternoon squalls are the new danger.

NOAA had forcast 3 foot swells the day we were out, the only 3 I saw that day was the amount of seconds between the waves.

He has the best V/O sound I've ever gotten.

I'm a big fan of his shows Terry. And I always notice the high quality sound you guys get! Very rich and warm with perfect compressor levels... I assume thats a Lucas comp?

Well, I've done a bit here with Mike, but certainly not anything near a big part of his massive output of V/O work.

But yes, when he was here, I did indeed use a Lucas Limiting Amplifier on him.

87 (old) > Lucas MP-VMO (mic pre) > Lucas comp > Apogee AD-X.

But the sound is his voice.
