Hi,
I have what I believe is a 1st edition Mini-Brute III bass amp (velvet cloth - 15" speaker). The power amp section smokes... It literally makes the LM391N-100 explode into flames when powering up... The preamp section is fine. I have tested all transistors with my tester and they're fine... I have replaced all the electrolytics, bar the main filter pair.
I cannot find a schematic anywhere online. One firm claim to have it, but there are many versions of Mini-Brute and this firm wants $20 USD (if it's the wrong one, it's money down the pan - not to mention that firms who charge for schematics are on morally-dodgy ground when you consider they didn't design the effing thing!).
I could trace out the power amp, but it will be time-consuming and - from what I can gather - a working amp is only worth about $300 USD max, so it's hardly worth spending all the time on.
If I can't get a schem, I may well just disconnect the amp and put it on Ebay as a "bass cab" with a £1 starter price.
Many thanks in advance,
Justin
