I have to move my record collection across the country starting September 1st. We're moving to California from Georgia, and using a freight service to take most of our stuff out there.
I have a decent-sized record collection (500-600 records), and I need to know how to get it out there in the best condition.
The freight service is called Upack, and it uses those big storage cubes that you put a padlock on yourself. I would imagine that it gets terribly hot in those cubes. Will that hurt my collection?
The other option is to take it out there when we drive. I'm not thrilled about lugging all those records across the country for three weeks (we're taking a long time to visit family and friends along the way). Moreover, it's bound to be hot in the car, too.
Any ideas? Am I being paranoid?
Thanks for any help!

That's the question - the heat! At what temperature do I need to be concerned about them warping? Will packing them tightly as was mentioned help this, even in that big bin? How do i get them out there?
Thanks,
A
