Ross,
In an earlier thread ( http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/m/242709/2248/?sr ch=chameleon#msg_243275) you mentioned that you liked the Chameleon SDCs on overheads and would be trying them on acoustic guitars.
Anything to report? I would be interested to hear about your experiences with that mic on acoustic guitars since that would be my main use for such mics.
I'm looking at the Rode NT4 as well (I'd want to get either ther NT4 or two Chameleon SDCs or similar).
Many thanks!

The samples on their site sound very good. I'm wondering how their LDC is, too?
JJ - What have you tried the TS-1 on? How does it do on snare? OH?
I see in their demo sounds, they compare it to a KM84. I wonder how interchangeable they are in KM84 applications.

Drum OH, piano and acoustic. It's really, really good as an OH. I didn't put it directly inches from the snare, but I liked the way the snare sounded in the OH, as I point my OHs at the snare. Piano was really great with the omni capsules attached. I don't like SDCs on acoustic as much as LDCs, but as far as SDCs go, these sounded good.

I have some of these mics on the way, so I will report on that soon.
The NT-4 is a great stereo microphone, but of its many uses, I wouldn't try it first on acoustic guitar. That is a monaural instrument.

Many thanks for all your views - I'd be interested to hear how they sound to you, Terry, when you try them out. Unfortunately I'm in London so I would not be able to hear them other than the samples on their web site.
Interesting thoughts on the NT-4. Because acoustic guitar features prominently in my music, I do tend to record my acoustic guitars in stereo, perhaps blindly following Bruce Swedien (I can't seem to find the link to the other forum, but just saw it last week), who seems fond of recording acoustic guitars in stereo and who speaks highly of the NT-4 for that purpose although I've seen pictures of him using U-47s in stereo for that. I've also read countless articles on recording acoustic guitar in stereo so I guess I am a little surprised.
Having said that, if you like bossa nova, Joao Gilberto always appeared to record with a single mic for his guitar, even in a pure solo setting.
Thanks again

Well, they do have six strings, so I guess we could mic each string independently, and spread it all out discretely in 5.1...
Whatever WORKS.

I don't mean to be splitting hairs, but I think you meant U48s.

Has anybody tried the adapter to use CK series caps? I'm thinking of one of these for my Blue Lollipop.

Hey guys, thanks for giving us something definitive on these SDC's. No, really.
No waffling. Gawd that's refreshing.. Just really straight up opinions- these mic's are the shit and they would give mic's that cost a lot more a run for their money. I'm sold.
You guys should think about having a no-bullshit review section on the forum.

I agree with what you say. Its refreshing to hear such glowing reviews from people in the know and not a gear pimp.
As far as a no-bullshit review section? With perhaps this one exception that would be impossible. Gear reviews are usually full of bullshit!!
Just ask JJ about his EQ articles. Even when he didn't put in bullshit it still ended up in there!

Of course, I understand. Mags need ads.
But, when every single review (since I can remember) is sickeningly positive, it makes them almost worthless.
At least, on this forum, as with Craig Anderton's review's over on HC for example, people could contribute their own questions and comments as well as their own experiences with the product. It can give you a much deeper pool to wade through.
