just got my foo fighters tickets.

had to post my excitement.

they seem to be the last remaining straight rock band. their records are never over produced, and they never seem to be anything they aren't.

and i'm thrilled that par smear is back in the band!!!!!

for large box shows, this should be a good one. i think i'm down to muse and foo fighters for large box shows i'm willing to spend money on.

Did shiflett leave?

I've only seen them at festivals. But one time dave played everlong on his own. Which at first you think is lame because you wanna give it some, but man was it so good.

Last remaining straight rock band? What does that mean? Hetero-sexual or straight up rock and roll?

If it' the latter, I beg to differ. If it's the former, I couldn't care less.

No, Chris is still around. Pat has been touring with them since their acoustic tour for In Your Honor.

And I agree that Foo Fighters are one of only a few "big" rock bands that are really good.

i meant "straight-up"

forgot to type the word.

i don't think pat smear and the word straight can be used in the same sentence as it relates to sexual orientation.........there is little mystery there.

yes, shiflett is still with them. it's kinda lame to have three guitar players on stage, but pat smear rules and it's good to see him back.

they did SNL and it appeared that Pat only played the solo section. HA....whatever

i don't think shiflett needs much help playing his leads.

i do think the foo fighters are one of kind. sad that they are.....

It's funny...because I was listening to the new album the other day and I realized how many Foo Fighters songs I know off the top of my head without really thinking about it...somehow they've flown just under my "these guys are probably geniuses" radar, though I've been a fan from about day one.

This latest album is something really amazing. So rockin'...so tastefully produced...good dynamics on a song-to-song level...great energy...

I'm jealous, but still oh so happy!

I'm utterly baffled at the general opinion regarding smoking. I don't smoke, but it's a bar, for God's sake. That's what your supposed to expect. It's a den of iniquity where people are going to indulge in all of the minor vices and sins denied to them during their mundane workdays. No doubt they are incredible. And no dou bt Kurt Cobain's genius as it related to the credit for Nirvana needs to be re-examined.

That being said, there really are quite a few great bands that still straight-up rock...

i'm not saying there are not bands that rock right now.

i'm saying none of them rock like the foo fighters.

their records are minimally produced, they sound like they are minimally edited, the sound like they have very few (if any) samples used, their guitar tones seem more natural then the typical mesa boogie triple rectifier.

until rage against the machine puts out another studio record, the foo fighters seem to be standing alone in the category of, "we're just a rock band, being a rock band"

i'm all ears though for examples of other platinum selling artists in todays studio climate that are just 'being a band"

i would love nothing more then to have a long list of such bands.

i was at their wedding last year
grohl was best man
actually she just quit the band Twinsticks that pat and i were producing so she can start being a mom
i know that pat may come off as gentle, he definitely is not effeminate
it just goes to show how someone unless you know them can get pegged one way or another

i love the foo's
rami jaffee is also in the band now
he is another best friend of mine

I have always felt this way as well... Grohl has been quite silent on his contributions to Nirvana ... Judging by the Foo's material he probably had a big part in the Nirvana songwriting... a real gentleman .

well, i just laughed out loud at the foot in mouth aspect of my post.

i couldn't care any less which way he swings really.......pink boa's and black leather seemed to have many people talking in the late 90's with his appearances on MTV
