I'm working on building a new project mastering studio and need some help with how to approach the room acoustics. I explained everything on a blog and photoshopped some room diagrams so it would be clear and easy, and maybe even enjoyable for you guys to check out. The "acoustic help?" blog is here: http://acoustichelp.wordpress.com/ I would appreciate all the help I can get!

your room is about 12x15. here is a room for mixing i did for my freind it is 11x14. same principles apply. in addition to what I have here, more traps will be needed to get the low end right. Possibly do super chunks in the corners.

i think brett has the right idea about treatments. i'd leverage the space behind the projection screen to add trapping, as well as on the back wall. i'd hang a drape over the windows and wall by the door. position the chairs about 38% from the back wall.

Welcome
Man, thanks a ton. Since I put the blog up, I have reconsidered the two chairs in the front. Since the room is so small, I'm guessing if I put the chairs there, neither person in the chairs would really be able to hear the "sweet spot".
Instead, we have decided to just put one chair in the center and three smaller chairs at the rear of the room.
Do you have any recommended material for the bass traps? Do you think Owens and Corning 703 would be good for the absorbers? Any recommendations for the clouds?

703 is the more expensive product but there are other products which have similar qualities.
