Hi,
I'm not sure if it makes sense to delineate in detail what "my forum" is supposed to be about, but here's a list of the kinds of things I've got experience with, and hence the things you may reasonably expect me to be able to comment on.
*Linear amplifier circuits (what op amps are made of, and why).
*Class D power amplifiers
*Pulse width modulators
*Sigma-delta conversion (discrete AD/DA converters)
*Error control
*Noise shapers
*Dither
*Filters (digital and analogue)
In short, things you'd encounter when trying to amplify, transmit or convert an audio signal with minimal quality loss.
Examples of stuff I'm not particularly good at are:
*EQ's
*Compressors
*Tube circuits
In short, the more artistic sort of device. I'm not saying none of these should be discussed here, only that I know as much about these things as the next person.
Since moderating this discussion forum has to be done during what little spare time I have, I'll be able to come online only a few times a week, typically during the early evening (Europe time).
Forum Rules:
The same rules apply here as in all other R/E/P forums. Some of my own are:
*No trench wars please. I'm all too familiar with endless discussions where two parties keep reiterating their arguments ad nauseam. Once it becomes clear that quarreling parties are going to stick to their guns, the discussion should end. The posts already made should suffice for other readers to make up their own minds.
*Asking directed questions is a better way of clearing up a confusion than telling one's interlocutor they've gotten it wrong. (I can use being reminded of that too from time to time.)
*I like to know who I'm talking to. If your name and association is in your profile that's OK. Otherwise sign your name or something.
Happy posting!
