If people would use fewer nylon, or especially perf metal pop screens, they would need fewer de-essers.

Well - I've had a pair of these babies for a couple weeks now and got to say these are definite keepers - they keep the integrity of the mix even when put across the 2-bus - are nicely effective - and I've really been liking these for the most part a good bit more than digital options I've tried (i.e. Digital Fishphones Spitfish, Waves, SPL, various multiband comps, dbx Quantum hardware, etc.) - plus they are a bit more tweekable and lot more affordable than the Maselec MDS-2 (which is one of the other few analog de-essing solutions I'd consider).
Street price turned out to be $650 a module - I spent an extra $450 for an Avedis R52 (1RU 2 module psu) - so total for a stereo pair racked was $1750. You can save $150 by getting the A-Designs rack but the Avedis was made in the USA, has a slightly beefier power supply, and the black rack face better matched the Derr-essers cosmetically.
So - for those looking for an affordable analog de-essing solution that is more than good enough in mastering applications - and sounds better for most tracks (at least to my ear) than many digital alternatives - the DerrEssers have my whole hearted recommendation.

Thanks, Steve. I haven't found a plug that has worked for me yet--might be time to go another route.
