Does anyone know if Plextools is supported with some of the newer Plextor drives, like the PX 810UF?
I tried to find a 7 series like the PX 755 but no luck here in the UK...
Thanks

I got plenty of hits.
Premium and Px 755A.

Thanks Jonas, but sadly those hits say ' currently unavailable...'
Steve, esaitech might do it, but with shipping to the UK, those prices are like a DC offset filter: STEEP !

I wish I had some advice as to what of these combos really works for error checking but I don't have any experience with this - I've been using Plextools for a while now.

Yup been using Plextools a while too. I just had a run today of masters with shockingly high C2 errors from the bottom quarter of a stack of TY disks, which made me realise how reassuring I find it when the Plextools tests come back good.
Just want to make sure I have some provision for a back up drive or two for the future.

Hello Peter
A couple of our PX 716's went down last year, so I bought several NOS units via eBay for a premium price... well worth it. Also found a few "lightly used" units as well, but that can be risky.
We're also using 755's to burn, but only 716's seem to behave with PlexTools.
Agreed PlexTools is invaluable at this point, not really interested in going the Clover route unless absolutely necessary.

...internal Plextor Premium 2 on Amazon UK, says it's in stock. I bought two a week or so back. I've also bought an 810UF to replace my 716UF which just died. The 810 comes bundled with Plextools, so I assume it works though I wouldn't usually test CDs with it: for me it's mostly used as a means of copying DDPi files to DVD, CD testing is done with my internal Premium 2s.
If anyone UK-based is interested, I'm getting low error rates with standard white top TYs I've just started buying from River Pro Audio - around 0.3 per second, whereas those from my usual supplier are more like 1.5. Before anyone steams in I know both these are comfortably off the Red Book scale, but I do notice that the new TYs are less prone to error bursts.

Thanks Nigel.
I was looking for a 716 [which is what I currently have] Maybe I'll pick up the Premium while I can.
Does anyone use the Firewire connected versions succesfully with Plextools?
Nigel, have you tried to get Plextools to 'see' the 810 when its connected via Firewire?

I'm using the white inkjet printable TYs too, usually with very good results, but yesterday I rejected 5 CDs in a row from the bottom quarter of a 100 tub with C2 errors, which I haven't seen for a long time. I get mine from DVDonline, but River pro look fractionally cheaper... Thanks for the tip.
Cheers everyone for the help.

Peter,
My 810 won't do Plextools CD error checks via Firewire (just looked), at some point will see if it's any different via USB.

I didn't know that, though CD error checks are not why I bought that particular drive.

I put a PX760 into the external case that originally housed a PX708 which was both Firewire and USB2. Plextools treated it in exactly the same way as an internal drive and all the Q-Check functions ran as normal.
Cheers
James.
