A friend of mine insisted that I play with his TLM 103 that he had David Royer turn into a tube mic. David used a 5840 submini, in a cathode follower configuration. This appears to be what he does for all tube mods.
I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but I noticed that the capsule for the TLM 103 (K103?), is a single diaphragm. This mic is touted by Neumann as having a capsule based on the K87. But how can you do that if you don't have a sympathetic rear diaphragm?
Haven't had a chance to plug it in and listen yet, but I'll try it on a female vocal later today and let you know how it sounds. I'll post some pics, too.

By itself such statement is third party info/hearsay.
Schmitt is a Neumann endorser, as can be seen on advertisements in Mix, etc.
But can you please cite proof that he is actually using M149s on piano sessions?

Hi Klaus,
Here are two quotes on gearslutz where Mr. Schmitt talks about using M149s on piano. Actually, he also has some very kind words for you too even though he spells your name wrong!
