I'm sure, of those whom you speak, the percentage is VERY small.
PEOPLE don't go into business to lose money (especially corporations). Shareholders are investors. They, I'm sure, don't want to throw their money away.

There's a difference between losing money and being willing to forgo extra financial profit in exchange for the emotional profit of feeling that you are doing a good thing.
Corporations can and do exist that have different goals. You can have non profit companies, you can also have "screw everyone and the planet we're in it for the bucks" companies, in between you can have companies for which profit is just a part of what they aim for.
I'm not saying that all corporations are soft and cuddly, far from it. But what I am saying that it's a mistake to think that all corporations are inherently sociopathic profiteerers and that this is the only way it can ever be.

Hey dude, take stabs at me all day long. You're living in a dream world if you don't think corporations are trying to make money. I mean a MAJORITY. A vast majority. What you're talking about is a blip on the economic map.
Even the hippies found that they needed to get the kids to soccer practice. This country thrives on money. It sucks, but that's the way it is. And while I'm out busting my hump to provide for my family, I would hate to see my money go down the tubes from a weak dollar or to give handouts to entitlement programs. I work too hard. I would also hate to see my kids feel the effects of no Social Security or have to take care of me because my investments go to shit.

From CNN's website:
Ron Paul
Believes imposing any tax on Social Security benefits is unfair and illogical. In Congress, introduced the Senior Citizens Tax Elimination Act (H.R. 191), which repeals all taxes on Social Security benefits. Also introduced the Social Security Preservation Act (H.R. 219) to ensure that money paid into the system is only used for Social Security. Believes it is fundamentally unfair to give benefits to anyone who has not paid into the system and sponsored the Social Security for Americans Only Act (H.R. 190), which would end the "drain on Social Security caused by illegal aliens seeking the fruits of your labor."
