A quote from the Little Feat website.
FROM RICHIE:
Dear friends,
I have very recently been diagnosed with a severe liver disease. I am looking at testing and treatments and a possible transplant, as well as an indefinite amount of time off.
I was trying to withhold this information until I could play my last three shows and give you all I could without distraction. (My last show will be August 7th in Montana).
Because I have no insurance, my friends here in Canada, where I live with my wife, wanted to help as soon as possible and launched information about a fundraiser and my situation, to bring in much needed funds asap. As it is a relatively small and local event, we were not expecting it to be noticed, and word got out before I was prepared to make this announcement.
Now that it has, please know that in no way did I mean to leave you out of the loop.
My intent is to come back to the band, as soon as I am physically able. Your love and support will mean a lot to me, more than I can say. I love and will miss you all, and I will see you again on the proud highway.

"Mix? What mix? Oh, that mix...it's easy!
Because it's all Digital, the only thing you have to do is pour a bunch of zero's and one's into a blender and push "mix". Then, you pray."

all my best to ritchie !!
probably THE single most under appreciated drummer of all time...and one of my biggest influences.
one of my biggest joys in this biz was working a show for the feat about 15 years ago...and hanging out with ritchie, paul, and sam. complete and total gentlemen, and simply amazing musicians.
little feat have long been my favorite band...since my uncle mike first turned me on to dixie chicken at age 5 !!
i'll help get the word out to help ritchie.
cheers,

He lives up near our cottage on the island here. But what I don't understand is if he married a Canadian gal he should be able to immigrate and be eligible for Medicare here in Canada. Maybe he needs to get his paperwork in order.
You don't have to be born here to qualify, you just need to be an immigrant. And if you married a Canadian, your immigration is pretty much guaranteed. Can take time tho.
Hope he gets better soon. We need more good drummers up here.
